Rescue Operation by MRC at Needle Rock View Point, Gudalur

Based on a request from the civil administration, a rescue operation was launched by Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington late last night to rescue a tourist from Chennai who had slipped and fallen off the cliff at Needle Rock view point near Gudalur, Nilgiris & was incapacitated due to a likely spinal injury.
A team from MRC under Lt Col Chandan Mehta launched a challenging rescue operation to retrieve the individual in a immobilised state to prevent further injury. Despite poor visibility, rugged terrain & high risk, the team established a 70 mtrs zip line to rescue him as a vertical lift was not feasible.
The rescue was completed by 3:30 am today morning & he was then rushed to Ooty GH for further management.
