Viksit Bharat Through Sports: Col R Vijai Anand, SM (Retd) inspires Young Athletes

Colonel R Vijai Anand, Sena Medal (Retd), a veteran and highly decorated officer, attended the Sri. G. Varadaraj Memorial Sports Meet and 38th Kiddies Athletic Meet–2026 at Peelamedu, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In a stride to contribute towards nation building, the decorated veteran interacted with and motivated young participants, while commending the organisers for nurturing sporting talent and promoting discipline, resilience and healthy competition among children.

Addressing the gathering, Col Vijai Anand highlighted the importance of sports in shaping character and building a fit, confident and responsible generation. He spoke about the value of physical fitness, mental toughness, teamwork and perseverance, encouraging children to pursue excellence with sincerity and aim to win medals through sustained effort and consistent practice. He emphasised that sports is not only about winning, but also about learning to lead, to accept defeat with dignity and to return stronger—qualities that directly contribute to the national vision of a stronger and Viksit Bharat.
