The Indian Army today celebrated the 40th Raising Day of the Army Aviation Corps and the 83rd Raising Day of the Intelligence Corps, honouring their distinguished legacies of courage, vigilance and selfless service to the nation.
To mark the occasion, solemn Wreath Laying Ceremonies were held at the National War Memorial, New Delhi. Lieutenant General Vinod Nambiar, Director General and Colonel Commandant of Army Aviation, and Major General Gopal Verma, Additional Director General of Military Intelligence, along with serving officers and soldiers, paid homage to the Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The tributes reflected the Army’s enduring ethos of valour, vigilance and commitment to the motherland.
The Army Aviation Corps, celebrating four decades of “Swift and Sure” service since its inception in 1986, has evolved into a potent and technology-driven combat arm providing vital battlefield mobility, reconnaissance, casualty evacuation, and humanitarian assistance. The year 2025 marks a major milestone with the induction of the AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopters, significantly enhancing strike and reconnaissance capabilities. The Corps’ expanding fleet of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) continues to strengthen surveillance, intelligence and real-time battlefield awareness, ensuring operational readiness in future multi-domain operations.
The Intelligence Corps, observing its 83rd Raising Day, has completed over eight decades of unwavering dedication and silent yet decisive service to national security. Raised in 1940, the Corps has evolved into a highly specialised and technology-enabled intelligence arm, contributing significantly to strategic foresight, operational preparedness and tactical decision-making. Guided by its motto “Sada Satark” (Ever Alert), it plays a critical role in counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism, information analysis and border security, while integrating advanced surveillance, cyber intelligence, and electronic warfare capabilities.
On this occasion, both Director Generals lauded the exemplary contribution of their respective Corps towards strengthening the operational capability and strategic preparedness of the Indian Army. They reaffirmed their commitment to innovation, professional excellence and mission success in safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
